The Information Systems Department offers computer services to the Office of Education and the school districts of Tulare County. Software production and support are provided in the areas of personnel, payroll, employee absences, credentials, budget, financial accounting and reporting, accounts payable and equipment inventory. Internet access is available to the school districts of Tulare County.

The Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) is the lead agency for a consortium of five county offices of education (Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Monterey and Imperial) that have developed a web based system to implement the new standardized account code structure, authorized by Assembly Bill 438 in 1995. New technology and the Internet have been used to create the PC-based system that will replace the mainframe-based financial software first developed by the department in 1980. The original financial software is currently being used by numerous county offices of education and school districts throughout California. Interest in the new software from various county offices and school districts is already evident.

Tulare COE and the other county offices in the consortium are currently involved in validating and adapting the base system to accommodate the particular needs of their own county's users. Staff members from each of Tulare County's school districts are in the process of being trained on the new system, which is scheduled for full implementation in the near future.
