"Beyond the Farm" can help you create a school garden. By bringing academics into the real world, gardens enhance instruction in many subjects using curriculum that meets current standards. |
The Tulare County Farm Bureau offers grants and supplies up to $500 per project per year to schools launching or hosting school gardens, along with resources to help incorporate a garden into your standard curriculum. Fill out the online application, or call (559) 732-8301 for more information.
Local schools already taking advantage of this program include: Oak Grove Elementary and Pleasant View Elementary in Porterville; Veva Blunt Elementary, Liberty Elementary, and Union Elementary in Visalia; Cypress Elementary and Sundale Union Elementary in Tulare; Rocky Hill Elementary in Exeter; Lincoln Elementary in Lindsay; Jefferson Elementary in Dinuba; Three Rivers Union Elementary; Pixley Union Elementary; Monson-Sultana Jt. Union Elementary, Tipton Elementary; Strathmore Union Elementary; Alpaugh Unified; Saucelito Elementary; and Woodlake Community Day School.
