Circle J - Norris Ranch
Field Trip Checklist
- Attend an inservice or arrange for a teacher orientation at the Circle J-Norris Ranch.
- Mail or fax a Field Trip Request Form to SCICON. Include your first, second, and third choices for field trip dates. This will require an administrative signature.
- A $50 fee per visit to the Circle J-Norris Ranch will be charged to your district upon completion of your field trip.
- You will receive a Circle J- Norris Ranch Confirmation Letter confirming your date. Check it for accuracy as a Field Trip Contract will be sent to your district superintendent based upon this information.
- Be sure to have the appropriate number of adult chaperons for your trip:
* K - 3rd: One adult for each 4 students (70 students maximum)
* 4th - 8th: One adult for each 6 students (70 students maximum)
* 9th - 12th: One adult for each 8 students (70 students maximum)
- Bring the following on field trip day:
- First Aid Kit (There are no medical supplies or medical personnel at the Circle J-Norris Ranch.)
- Lunch & snacks
- Drinking water
- Trash bags (All trash must be carried out on the bus.)
- Rain jackets/ponchos as needed
- Confirm your bus transportation. Travel time and mileage to the Circle J-Norris Ranch is exactly the same as a bus trip to SCICON.
- Mail or fax your detailed Field Trip Plan to SCICON at least four weeks in advance of your trip.
A Circle J Host will meet your class at the Circle J - Norris Ranch on the day of your field trip. He/she will greet the students and review the Rules of the Ranch. The Host can also be included as part of your instructional team. She/he will be qualified to teach small groups in the various subjects of natural history.
