Scot Townsend
President
Trustee Area 4

Scot B. Townsend is the City Manager for the City of Lindsay. He has spent the majority of his career working on projects with local governments for economic development, housing redevelopment and community planning. Professionally, Mr. Townsend is a member of the state advisory boards for the HOME Partnership and the Community Development Block Grant Program. Mr. Townsend is married and has seven children. He is a member of numerous civic organizations.

Trustee Area No. 4 includes all the area embraced in the following school districts: Allensworth, Alpaugh Unified, Columbine, Earlimart, Farmersville Unified, Lindsay Unified, Outside Creek, Pixley, Richgrove, Rockford, Saucelito, Sundale Union, Sunnyside Union, and Terra Bella Union.
Term expires November 2010.

Patricia Hillman
Vice President
Trustee Area 7

Pat Hillman was born and educated in Tulare. She earned dual teaching credentials at Fresno State University and taught in both Fresno and Tulare. She is married and the mother of four grown children. She has volunteered in many community activities including 25 years as a member of the Tulare City School Board.

Trustee Area No. 7 includes all the area embraced in the following school districts: Liberty, Pleasant View, Tulare, and Woodville.

Joe Enea
Trustee Area 5

Joe Enea is a resident of Visalia. He is retired after a career in law enforcement at the federal, state and local levels. He holds a BA in Political Science and a Masters in Public Administration. He is an adjunct instructor at College of the Sequoias and at West Hills College. Mr. Enea has served as foreman of the Tulare County Grand Jury. He volunteers with the Celebrant Singers, an international Christian music ministry.

Trustee Area No. 5 includes all the area embraced in the following school districts: Buena Vista, Oak Valley Union, Palo Verde Union, Tipton, Traver Joint, Waukena Joint Union and a portion of Visalia Unified.

Rod Burkett
Trustee Area 2

Rod Burkett lives in the Porterville area and serves as an agricultural pest advisor. He also farms oranges, lemons, cherries and olives and is a member of the California Olive Growers Council and the California Citrus Mutual Board. Mr. Burkett served on the Strathmore Union Elementary School Board for nine years, coached youth football and soccer and was a Boy Scout leader.

Trustee Area No. 2 includes all the area embraced in the following school districts: Burton, Exeter Union, Sequoia Union, Strathmore Union, Three Rivers Union, Woodlake Union, a portion of Visalia Unified and a portion of Porterville Unified. Term expires November 2010.

Celia Maldonado-Arroyo
Trustee Area 1

Ms. Maldonado-Arroyo is retired from the position as Associate Dean of the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) at College of the Sequoias. Prior to her work at COS, she held positions with Fresno City College and Fresno Unified School District. Additionally, she has served as the State President of the Association of Mexican American Educators, and a board member of Radio Bilingue, the Tulare/Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Fresno.

Trustee Area No. 1 includes all the area embraced in the following school districts: Cutler-Orosi Unified, Dinuba Unified, Kings River Union, Monson-Sultana Joint Union, Stone Corral; a portion of Visalia Unified, and those portions of Clay Joint, Kings Canyon Joint Unified and Kingsburg Joint Union lying within Tulare County.
Term expires November 2010.

Edward F. Peterson
Trustee Area 3

Dr. Peterson served on the first elected board in 1956. He was President of the Board from 1961 - 1977, a total of 16 years. He was elected President again in 1989. A retired children's dentist in Visalia, the Trustee Area No. 3 representative has been active in the Sheriff's Aero Squadron. He retired from the board in November 1996 and was reappointed to fill a vacancy in October 1999.

Trustee Area No. 3 includes a portion of the area embraced in the Visalia Unified School District.
Term expires November 2012.

Chris Reed
Trustee Area 6

Chris Reed is a longtime resident of Porterville. She has served on the Tulare County Board of Education for 17 years. She also serves as the board liaison for the federal Head Start program (operated by the Child Care Educational Program) and the Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning Center, which serves families with home-schooled children. She also volunteers at Sierra Vista Hospital as a Pink Lady.

Trustee Area No. 6 includes all the area embraced in the following school districts: Alta Vista, Citrus South Tule, Ducor Union, Hope, Hot Springs, and Springville Union, a majority of Porterville Unified, and that portion of Linns Valley-Poso Flat Union lying within Tulare County.
Term expires November 2012.

The Tulare County Board of Education meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Tulare County Office of Education Building unless otherwise indicated.
