Transitional Kindergarten
California Senate Bill 1381 changes the kindergarten entry-age requirements from five years old by December 2nd to five years old by September 1st. This change will be phased in over three years, beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, with case-by-case exceptions allowed by individual school districts.
For those children turning five between these dates, the bill also creates a transitional kindergarten.
