Summer School Programs


The Region VIII Summer Program is specifically designed to supplement student instruction. Students receive help in overcoming obstacles to learning encountered during the regular program year. Students receive supplementary instructional and support services to achieve a higher level of performance and success. Students are able to access this instructional support through the Home-Based Instructional Program (HBI), Intensive Literacy Groups (ILG) and Pre-K Academies.

Migrant Education Program
Services available to students during the summer include:
  • Pre-K Academies/Migrant Education Even Start (MEES)
  • Intensive Literacy Groups (ILG)
  • Home Based Instruction (HBI)
  • Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) Book Distribution
  • Environmental/Outdoor Education - SCICON
  • 9th Grade Transition Academy
  • Career Awareness
  • Portable Assisted Study Sequence (PASS)
  • Health and Safety Programs
  • Educational Fairs
  • Food Services through the USDA Food Services Program
  • Mini-Corps Program
